Kisses sweeter than wine - what you can learn from KISSes about #OptInsThatConvert



I’ve done a lot of kissing in my day, and let me tell you, there’s loads you can learn from kisses about #OptInsThatConvert.

The most common kiss is the FPC – the Friendly Peck on the Cheek – aka the Cousin Kiss. It’s the typical hello-goodbye kiss a guy will pop on your cheek, just to be nice. It may, momentarily, make you feel loved, but the FPC is so small, so quick and so insignificant, you barely feel it and once it’s over, it’s gone and forgotten. Believe me. I know. I have had a lifetime of “cousins” ;)

Another common kiss, is The Slobber. EEEEWWW GROSS! Mouth wide open, the Slobberer is all over you: sucking your lips and with his tongue so deep down your throat, you have to swallow his spit to keep from gagging. At best, The Slobber Kiss feels like it’s never ending. The sad thing is that most Slobberers are really good guys, with heaps to offer the right woman. They are just oblivious of the fact that they are doing it all wrong.


And then there’s The Perfect KISS, which sends shivers down your spine, captures your heart and creates a lifelong memory.  While soft and gentle The Perfect KISS sends a clear message how the kisser feels about you. Without being overpowering and in your face, he makes his intentions known. The Perfect KISS is short and sweet, and, when given with love, it leaves you begging for more.

Now what do KISSes have to do with #OptInsThatConvert?

The FPC is the most common type of opt-in offered by many lifestyle coaches and information service providers. Whether presented as an e-book, cheat-sheet, quiz or toolkit, the FPC opt-in is no more than watered down regurgitated content no different from other opt-ins floating around the Internet. Just like the FPC, they momentarily make you feel loved, because you have received something for free, but more often than not, you delete them without a second thought, and soon thereafter you unsubscribe from the list.

The Slobber opt-in is created by overzealous coaches and service providers, who want to be sure that they are offering epic value – lots and lots of epic value – so that you will trust them. They just pour it all out there – page after page after page of content all over the place. Whether it is epic value or not, you’ll never know, because more often than not, you find yourself opting-out even before you get to page 3. There is so much there, you just lose the plot, and with it out goes your desire to pursue the relationship. 

Finally, there is The Perfect KISS – Keep IShort and Simple.

Just like The Perfect KISS, #OptInsThatConvert are short and simple.

They provide an immediate applicable solution to one niggling problem, your subscriber is dying to solve. #OptInsThatConvert also demonstrate who you are and what you can do.

#OptInsThatConvert:
  • send a clear message;
  • create a WOW experience;
  • and call for action.
